Exploring a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have found numerous engaging independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a character that is actually a piece of poop trying to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a one button to leap. In 150 stages, battle mini-bosses and access a store to purchase outfits for your poop character.

Time your actions precisely, as a wrong move forces starting over. Jump on bubbles to launch yourself higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and interact with buttons to open secret routes. Earn currency for buying tougher game content in which things intensifies.

Graphically, the game features neon environments and an amazing soundtrack. Its minimalist visual style with moving geometric shapes may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall other games where you play as a coiled turd, video games often incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. And of course, such content shows up a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, including winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on computers this November.
