Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has recorded five scores during the current campaign

New England matched their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they beat division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football

Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after falling to a 2-8 mark

The Jets had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' first possession

But the New England answered in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the win
